Women At Risk Event
Learn about domestic and global human trafficking and risks women are facing today. Human trafficking networks earn $32 billion every year, and statistics show that 2 out of 3 victims are women.
Women At Risk (WAR), International, is a nonprofit organization that works in over 40 countries including the US. They sponsor preventive programs that focus on those at risk, striving to rescue vulnerable women, men and children from exploitation. Curative programs provide therapeutic communities in which those who were trafficked, abused, or abandoned can find safety, comfort, and healing. IT’S YOUR TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Join us for an Information Session and Pop–Up Boutique at the Cochranton Presbyterian Church, Pine & Smith Streets on Saturday, April 21, from 11 am. to 3 pm.
WAR International markets and sell handcrafted items made by at-risk and rescued women, men and children from around the world, supporting culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects. They educate shoppers about the risks faced by vulnerable populations in our world.
Also joining us is Trades of Hope, an organization that works with artisans and organizations that are helping women in difficult circumstances. Some women have been rescued from sex slavery while others are raising handicapped children alone. They support women who come from war torn countries and those that have HIV, AIDS and leprosy.
Come learn more about how you can support these two organizations and their important work anytime between 11 am and 3 pm.
Light refreshments will be served.
The event is sponsored by the Cochranton Presbyterian Women.
