  Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get an entry bank?
You may enter your unit online, download an entry blank, or pick one up at the Chamber of Commerce. Entry blanks will also be printed in the Meadville Tribune.

How is the order of the parade determined?
Units are ordered by type as entry blanks are received. The line up is then arranged by selecting units in order from the various categories, keeping in mind the needs of units with small children and animals. The line up is intended to create variety throughout the length of the parade.

Why do I need to send a bio?
This is the information that is read during the parade to announce your unit.

When do I find out my unit number?
Parade letters will be sent on October 18 containing line up number.

Where do I line up?
Parade letters will be sent on October 18 containing a map showing you where to line up along North Street. Please remember that North Street is ONE WAY (west only) during lineup. Numbered stakes will be located along the street to designate your area.

When do I line up?
The parade starts PROMPTLY at 6:30 pm, and all units must be in place by 6pm. Any float wishing to be judged must be in place and ready to be judged by 5pm- NO EXCEPTIONS. Judging begins at 5pm and judges will not return to judge a unit not ready on time.

Why can't I drive east on North Street during line up? Even if I live there?
First and foremost, this is an issue of safety. Fire trucks from a number of area companies take part in our parade every year. In the past, there have been incidents where the trucks were called from the parade line up to an emergency. The trucks need an unobstructed route to leave the line up quickly. There are also a number of children involved in the parade every year. We try to minimize through traffic on North Street to insure their safety while in the street.

Where can I park additional parade vehicles?
Additional vehicles not driving the parade route may be parked at Diamond Park, the end of the parade route.

Is throwing candy allowed?
Candy is a big part of the parade, but we would prefer for safety's sake that you not throw candy from any vehicle. Please have walkers pass out candy along the parade route.
