Chamber of Commerce Virtual Diamond Awards
The Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce has announced that this year’s Diamond Awards will be presented virtually through a pre-recorded video showcase on Tuesday, June 23, at 7:00 PM, on the Chamber’s YouTube channel. The awards are normally presented in April as part of the Chamber's Annual Dinner which had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order for the state of Pennsylvania.
Christa Lundy, executive director of the Chamber says, "The Chamber is delighted to be honoring these deserving individuals, nonprofit organizations and businesses that are doing so much for our community. There are so many wonderful acts happening, especially during this pandemic. That is why we are looking forward to recognizing these Chamber members who have been doing remarkable things throughout this past year."
This year, due to COVID-19, there will be no awarding of the prestigious Governor Raymond P. Shafer Award for Distinguished Community Service, as the committee members from the Chamber, Allegheny College and Shafer Law Firm would prefer to wait until the honor can be presented in person. The Davies family and Allegheny College will also wait until next year to honor students with their esteemed Lew and Ellie Davies Award for Outstanding Community Service.
The highlight of the evening is the awarding of the 2020 Diamond Awards. The following businesses and individuals are nominees in their respective categories:
