The MISSION of Leadership Meadville: To identify and develop current and future leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues and challenges facing this community, while also providing knowledge of all that Crawford County has to offer.

Our VISION is to be a highly valued and respected program recognized for the quality and diversity of its members, who remain committed to improving our region through ongoing education, awareness, and involvement.

    CONCEPT

Up to 20 individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential will be selected for each class. Each day will begin with discussions surrounding leadership theory/styles, with the remainder of the day filled with "asset discovery" that focuses on a different industry sector each month, taking the class to various businesses throughout the region. The program prides itself in giving participants access to area businesses and their leaders that would normally be more difficult to obtain.

    SCHEDULE

The class meets from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Friday of each month from September through June (the June class will be 7:30 am to 1:00 pm). Participants are required to attend the full day Orientation on August 16, 2024. Each session includes breakfast, lunch, group exercises, and tours.

    ATTENDANCE

Attendance at the orientation class and the following 10 monthly classes are mandatory for all participants. It is essential that you are able to make the required time commitment to the program. To graduate, participants must attend the full day Orientation class and complete all class assignments. Participation in the class project during the program year is required as well. The annual Chili, Chowder & Soup Cook-off is organized and planned by the current class to provide funds for future classes.

    ELIGIBILITY

Preference will be given to individuals who have a sincere concern about the future of our community and a personal desire to help shape the future; a demonstrated capacity for leadership through significant achievements or drive to become a better leader; a personal and professional commitment to remain active in the community; a commitment to the time and energy necessary to complete the program by attending the full day Orientation and all classes, with the full support of his or her employer; and should be at least 25 years of age or have a minimum of five years of professional work experience.

    SELECTION PROCESS

Due to the highly interactive nature of the program, we can only accommodate a maximum of 20 students per class. Applicants with the greatest desire to better our community will be considered.

    TUITION

The program cost is $1,000.00 for Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber members ($1,250.00 for non-members) which include tuition, materials, meals, transportation and activities for Orientation. Scholarships and deferred payments are available on a case by case basis. Tuition, payable by check or credit card (all major cards accepted), is due in full by July 31, 2024.
