The MISSION of Leadership Meadville: To identify and develop current and future leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues and challenges facing this community.

    Our VISION is to be a highly valued and respected program recognized for the quality and diversity of its members, who remain committed to improving our region through ongoing education, awareness, and involvement.



    Up to 18 individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential will be selected for each class. Participants are required to attend the full day Orientation in August and a day-long session each month for 9 months, September – May. Each class will address a different subject or business industry and are held at various locations throughout the community.



    Classes are scheduled for the second Friday of each month from 7:00 – 4:00 pm and will include continental breakfast, lunch, group exercises, and tours.



    Attendance at the Orientation class and the following 9 monthly classes are mandatory for all participants. It is essential that you are able to make the required time commitment to the program. To graduate, participants must attend the full day Orientation class, fulfill pre-class assignments and all outside class assignments when applicable and achieve a minimum of 85% of total points. One class project during the program year is required as well. The Chili, Chowder & Soup Cook-off is organized and planned by the current class to provide funds for future classes.



    Preference will be given to individuals who have a sincere concern about the future of our community and a personal desire to help shape the future; a demonstrated capacity for leadership through significant achievements or drive to become a better leader; a personal and professional commitment to remain active in the community; a commitment to the time and energy necessary to complete the program by attending the full day Orientation and all classes, with the full support of his or her employer; and should be at least 25 years of age or have a minimum of five years of professional work experience.



    There is an extensive application process. Due to the highly interactive nature of the program, we can only accommodate a maximum of 18 students per class. Applicants with the greatest desire to better our community will be considered.



    The program cost is $600.00 for Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber members ($750.00 for non members) which include tuition, materials, meals, transportation and activities for Orientation. Scholarships and deferred payments are available on a case by case basis. The application must  be accompanied by the tuition, payable by check or credit card (all major cards accepted).
