CHAMBER TO INAUGURATE SHOWCASE FOR SPORTSMENMEADVILLE – “Antlers & Anglers,” a showcase for the vast hunting and fishing resources of Crawford County, will take place Father’s Day weekend, June 19 and 20th at Port Meadville Airport. The inaugural event is an initiative of the Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce. The two-day showcase will be a venue for local outdoors sporting experts to share their expertise through clinics and seminars and an opportunity to see the latest in hunting and fishing equipment and learn about locally-provided sportsman services.Several personalities from Sportsman Channel are anticipated to appear, among the experts already committed to participate are Champion Bass Fisherman Paul Hirosky along with Pymatuning Lake’s Rob Genter. Seminars and clinics will be scheduled throughout the weekend along with children and youth activities.Major Sponsors on board for Antlers and Anglers are Sportsman Channel along with local businesses including ARMSTRONG, DAD’s Pet Care, Port Meadville Airport, WJET-TV 24/FOX 66, The Meadville Tribune, Wuzz 94 and Froggy 100.3, Cool 101.7 and the Erie Times News..Planning for the first-time event has been underway since last year, according to Chamber director Kathleen Bishop.“We want to tap into the passion of our local sportsmen and create a great new event for Crawford County,” Ms. Bishop said. “We look at ‘Antlers & Anglers’ as a signature event and a major fundraiser for the Chamber.“While there is much yet to plan and organize, we’re seeing a lot of interest from hunting and fishing organizations, retail outlets and sportsmen’s clubs.”Ms. Bishop noted that holding the showcase at the airport will encourage fly-in participation and having it run concurrently with the Thurston Classic balloon event will make Crawford County an even more viable destination that weekend.More information, including vendor applications, may be obtained by calling the Chamber office, 814/337-8030.Images
